GIGS AND BAND TRANSPORT SERVICES
So you've just played the gig of your life, the crowd went wild and you want to party hard and celebrate. But what about the drummer? He's the nominated driver tonight! Well worry not, Van Man Hire offer a service to bands to collect all your equipment and transport it to the gig venue ready and waiting for you, then afterwards pick up your gear once you've finished and take it back while you carrying on drinking the night away!
So, no more sober nights and expensive van hires?
Exactly, why waste your money hiring a van or indeed getting a load of mates to take several cars for all your equipment, let us do all the work while you enjoy yourself. And remember, we've got full goods in transport and public liability insurance in place so you have no need to worry about the safety of your instruments
So how does this work then?
Well, basically as we are based in Sheffield we are able to pick your equipment up during the day and drop it off to your venue, then come and collect it once your gig has finished and take it back to your place of storage
How about band members? Can they travel with you?
After the driver, we have 2 more seats available in the van so we can take a maximum of 2 passengers with us, so yes, your crew can travel with us providing there's only 2 of you! Any more than that and I'm afraid it's public transport or taxis for the rest of the band
Our gig is in a different city, will you take us and our equipment there?
Yes we can take your equipment to another city along with 2 passengers (which is 2 train/coach tickets less your band will have to spend on travel arrangements!).
If the city is a long distance away then we would have to arrange how you want to get your equipment transported back. If you require us to bring everything back on the same night then the van would be booked out for that entire day.
If it's a very long distance or the gig will run very late into the night then you would be left with 2 options as it wouldn't be safe for the driver to hang around all day and then drive a long distance back late at night and into the early morning;
- Book the van out for 2 separate days meaning we travel back to Sheffield after dropping you off and come back again the next day to pick up your equipment
- Arrange a B&B for our driver so he can take you back the following morning
(with option 2 being the cheapest seeing as you will only be paying for 1 load of diesel instead of 2)
OK, I think I understand everything, just 1 more thing, how much does this cost?
Our standard rates for a 1 Man and Van service can be found on our Removals Prices page which is £50 for the first hour then £20 per subsequent hour week days. £5 more per hour on Saturdays and a further £5 more per hour on Sundays.
If the gig is going to take us on long distance work then the charge for 1 Man and Van is £20 per hour weekdays, £25 on Saturdays and £30 on Sundays plus 30p per mile to cover the diesel. An extra £100 per day charge is incurred for jobs to London for the daily driving permit in their Low Emission Zones that came into farce, sorry, i mean force on the 3rd of January 2012. This charge isn't for us, it goes straight to the London Transport people to get the driving permit.
You can either sort this permit out yourself and we will give you our vehicle details which they will require or you can transfer the money to us and we will sort it out. Congestion charges may also apply in London should we need to drive in these areas. Please note that any LEZ permit or congestion charge must be paid for and arranged with the London Council by the customer before any removal work is carried out by us
And last but not least, a B&B charge may apply should the hours be very long and an overnight stay be required before setting off the next morning
Do you offer discounts?
Aha, good question! Yes we do! If you use Van Man Hire on a regular basis then we will happily give you a discount on your removals. We will discuss a bespoke deal with you, generally resulting in a higher discount, the more work you have with us
So, I think we've covered just about everything but please do get in touch if there's any other questions you may have about your gig transportation
